  56. Michael is right on this... ...there are lots of reasons to leave
  57. the 'pioneers' to be proud of their 440 pioneering for the next
  58. quarter-century and head for 1.2Ghz. For that is the land where
  59. cellular systems begin to make sense, where antennas are tiny, and
  60. where, thanks to Motorola et. al. generating a bit of RF is no
  61. longer a major feat. 
  62.  
  63. Heck the SoCal market alone could drive the price of 1.2Ghz rigs
  64. through the floor.
  65.  
  66. And the Jay Maynards of this world can search out a good 75meter/440Mhz
  67. all-mode transceiver, to fit their world-view.

  300. Randy, a schematic diagram won't do you any good.  That unit has many
  301. modules all interconnected, and it's far from being a simple unit to
  302. service.  I used to own one, and finally sold it.

  304. I do have a copy of the service manual that I'd be willing to part
  305. with, but I'd be more interested in buying the radio from you so I
  306. could play with it and possibly get it working.

  308. I used to have a repair shop and did Midland warranty work, so I may

  385. To one and all!  Finally we are back online!  It only took me and my new
  386. Co-Sysop Bob Ward three weeks to figure out that one simple little glitch
  387. was
  388. holding us up, but we even added a new Internet UUCP interface to the BBS
  389. in the process.

  391. The Disney Software BBS is now back on FIDOnet full time, as well as the
  392. Internet!

  394. Internet users can write to us directly here at Disney Software via our
  395. state of the art 8 line BBS at the Intenret ID - sysop@disneysoft.com.

  397. Messages will come straight into our BBS and be answered directly by our
  398. staff!
  399. We are also participating in the rec.arts.disney newsgroup too!  It is
  400. available on the BBS as well!

  402. Fidonet users can still reach us at node ID 1:102/841.0 as always, and we

  404. have a new Nodelist entry shortly which will allow systems to do File
  405. Requests
  406. from us again!  We have plenty of files to choose from!

  408. Our Front Door system is online 24 hours a day and has a line dedicated to
  409. it,
  410. so pesky busy signals should be minmized!

  412. Members of the Disney conference on FIDO will be happy to know that I will
  413. finally be resuming my duties as Moderator of the echo.  The three week
  414. delay
  415. in doing so was caused by the BBS pooping out on us again, but now it is
  416. going strong and we can get back to work!

  418. Until Chris Harrower returns to Moderator duties I will be handling it.  I
  419. will be posting new rules in a few days after they get typed up.  I have

  421. watching what's been going on and Steven Soria has been handling it nicely

  559. It's a Cushcraft R-5 vertical half-wave antenna, and covers 10, 12, 15, 17,
  560. and 20 meters.  I've used it successfully on 40 meters with my antenna
  561. tuner, though most antenna tuners would admittedly allow you to tune up
  562. your bedframe.

  564. Best offer of around $200 takes it.  It's back in it's original packing and
  565. complete with all the original paperwork including blank warranty cards.

  582. I have the use of a Hickok KS-15874-L2 vacuum tube tester.  It
  583. uses plastic punch cards to adjust the settings for each tube
  584. type.  The tester I have has no punch cards for the very old tubes
  585. I want to test, e.g. 24, 26, 27, 80, 71A.  Does anyone out there
  586. already know the proper settings (electronic) or puch holes for
  587. these vacuum tubes?  I will be getting a manual for the tester
  588. soon, but it is not in hand yet.  The tester does have blank 
  589. cards and a punch tool.  Thanks for any help.

  630. One wonders where the art of communication has gone?  Over the past
  631. week I read an interesting bulletin edited by Helmut, DL2BR on Pactor
  632. Link-Errors.  When using the mode one may see several operational
  633. errors.  Most of those are caused by a lack of knowledge of the
  634. protocol.  Some errors arise by misunderstanding the possibilities of
  635. Pactor.  But a few operators ignore existing connects too.  Fortunatly
  636. the last mentioned are really a small minority.

  779. was a Clegg FM-27 - the very first synthesized 2M rig) was play on
  780. 146.76 - it was a simplex frequency back then. Simplex in the Valley
